CHICAGO — A multi-vehicle crash on the Dan Ryan early Tuesday morning sent four people to the hospital, officials said.

The crash happened about 4:30 a.m. in an inbound express lane on the Dan Ryan near the 47th Street exit, said Chief Juan Hernandez, a fire department spokesman.

Two people were transported to Stroger Hospital in serious-to-critical condition, and two other people were taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in fair-to-serious condition, Hernandez said.

Five people refused medical attention.

It was not immediately clear how many vehicles were involved in the crash, Hernandez said.
