CHICAGO — A South Side man charged with homicide after his passenger was killed as he allegedly fled police Thursday has died, authorities said.

Glenn Jones, 25, was charged with reckless homicide in the death of 23-year-old Delila Smith.

Prosecutors said Jones tried to elude police as they attempted to pull him over Thursday night. He sped through West Pullman, injuring two children and a 35-year-old man before crashing into a tree in the 12300 block of South State Street, prosecutors said.

Smith was pronounced dead Friday night at Advocate Christ Hospital.

Jones was in treatment at Christ Hospital during a bond court hearing Sunday, in which he was charged with 11 crimes, including reckless homicide.

Jones was pronounced dead at Christ Hospital at 1:34 p.m. Monday, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.
