THE LOOP — A new 60-story residential tower at 111 W. Wacker Drive won't open until July, but prospective tenants interested in a riverfront view can start signing leases this week.

Claiming to be the first new construction residential option along the riverfront in six years, the glass-walled tower expects to complete construction on the building's exterior, amenities and about half of the 504 total units by July 1, according to Related Midwest.

Rents at the development, called OneEleven, begin at $1,600 per month.

In 2011, the development company acquired the land — and a partially-constructed, 28-story base they incorporated into the tower.

"In order to integrate the existing base into the new tower, we came up with the idea of drawing your eye skyward, creating a sinuous ribbon that winds up and around the building, linking base to tower, referencing adjacent building heights and datums, and connecting streetscape to sky," said Gary Handel, president of Handel Architects which designed the tower.

Amenities include a 30,000-square-foot indoor-outdoor space on the 28th and 29th floors featuring a gym, screening room, and indoor pool with a retractable wall connecting to an outdoor terrace with a fire pit and outdoor kitchens.

The smoke-free building is also pet friendly, with an on-site grooming center, indoor play area and outdoor dog run.

"OneEleven is a symbol of Chicago’s renaissance," Handel said. "At this pivotal site, we strove to create a building that will take its rightful place among the exceptional buildings that line the Chicago River."

OneEleven’s leasing center is based at Related's sister property, 500 Lake Shore Drive. For leasing information, call 312-850-0111 or visit OneElevenChicago.com.
