CHICAGO — A 65-year-old man has been charged with murder in the death of a Humboldt Park woman found dead in her home Thursday.

Ronald Winfield, of the 900 block of North Central Park Avenue, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Leannia Hall, 76, of the same block. Police said Hall was 71, but the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said she was 76.

Hall was found unresponsive in her bed Thursday. An autopsy determined she had been strangled, and classified the death as a homicide.

Police said Winfield was with Hall at the time of her death, and fled when a family member arrived at her home.

He is due in court Saturday, police said.
