CHICAGO — A 19-year-old man has died after he was shot in his head in Logan Square Tuesday.

Bernardo Catalan, 19, of the 2100 block of North Bingham Street in Logan Square, was pronounced dead at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center at 9:29 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Catalan had been shot just after 1 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

He and a 23-year-old man were riding in a car behind an SUV in the 1900 block of North Rockwell Street when the SUV's driver got out and began shooting toward the pair, police said.

Catalan and his companion drove about three blocks to the Shakespeare District police station. They were later taken to Illinois Masonic, where the 23-year-old man was treated for gunshot wounds in his arm and leg. Catalan originally was  listed in critical condition.

After the pair was taken to the hospital, their beige sedan sat in the police station's parking lot. Bullet holes marked the hood and windshield of the car.
