CHICAGO — Ten people were wounded, one fatally, in shootings across the city's South and Northwest sides since Monday overnight, authorities said.

A teenager is in critical condition and another man was hospitalized after a shooting in Logan Square, police said.

About 1:05 a.m., the two men were driving behind an SUV in the 1900 block of North Rockwell Street when the SUV's driver got out of the car and began shooting at the men, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.

The 19-year-old man was shot in his head, and a 23-year-old man was shot in his arm and leg, Gaines said.

The two then drove about three blocks to the 14th district police station. They were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and treated for their wounds. The 19-year-old was listed in critical condition Tuesday morning, police said.

After they were taken to the hospital, the men's beige sedan sat in the station's parking lot. Bullet holes marked the hood and windshield of the car.

About 12:45 a.m., a 26-year-old man was shot at a gas station in Humboldt Park.

Police said the 26-year-old was sitting in a sedan at the station when a guman walked up to the car and began firing shots. The man's back was grazed by a bullet, and he drove himself to Norwegian American Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.

About 3:11 a.m., a 20-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the 2100 block of West Cullerton Street when a gunman approached and shot him in the leg, police said.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition stabilized, police said.

Hours earlier, a man was shot in the Gage Park neighborhood.

The man, whose age was not available, was shot in his leg about 10:15 p.m. in the 5700 block of South Artesian Avenue, police said.

At 8 p.m., a 17-year-old girl was shot in what appears to be a gang-related incident in Albany Park. The teen was in the 4900 block of North Lawndale Avenue when she ws shot in the leg. She was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a police spokeswoman.

About 7:40 p.m. Monday, an 18-year-old man was shot in the 8200 block of South Vernon Avenue in Chatham, police said. The teen was shot in his back and is in serious condition at an area hospital. Authorities said the teen has known gang ties.

About the same time, a 16-year-old boy was shot in the Washington Heights neighborhood.

The teen told police he was in standing outside in the 9100 block of South Lowe Avenue about 7:10 p.m. when he saw two men walk past. Police said one of the men pulled out a gun and began shooting and the 16-year-old was hit in his leg. He was taken in good condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Just before midnight, a retired Chicago police officer was critically injured after he was shot in the neck during a home invasion in East Side.

About 7 p.m. Monday, a 36-year-old man was killed in the South Shore neighborhood.
