CHICAGO — Three people, including two teenagers, were wounded in separate South Side shootings Wednesday.

The latest shooting occurred about 10:22 p.m. in Auburn Gresham when a woman was shot in her back in the 8800 block of South May Street, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.

The woman, believed to be in her 40s, was taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center.

A few hours earlier, a teenage boy was shot in his lower back in the 7900 block of South Campbell Avenue in Ashburn, said Officer Daniel O'Brien, a police spokesman.

The teen, whose exact age was still unknown Thursday morning, was inside a car when someone opened the door and shot at him about 5:50 p.m. The teen was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.

Earlier, a 17-year-old boy was shot multiple times in Back of the Yards.

The shooting happened in the 4900 block of South Paulina Street about 9 a.m., according to Officer Janel Sedevic, a police spokeswoman.

Someone dropped off the injured boy in the 5100 block of South Elizabeth Street after the shooting, police said. The boy was later taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition with multiple bullet wounds.

No one was in custody for any of the shootings.
