Two Dead, Seven Wounded in Weekend Violence

CHICAGO — Two people are dead and seven were wounded in shootings across the city over the weekend.

The most recent shooting occurred early Monday in Gage Park when a 16-year-old boy was shot in his leg. The teen was listed in stable condition after walking into St. Anthony Hospital.

The teen told police he was standing on a corner near 50th Street and Oakley Avenue when a car pulled up and an argument ensued around 1:30 a.m.. The boy flashed gang signs and was shot, said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.

Around 5:23 p.m. Sunday, an 18-year-old man was shot in his arm and chest while in the 8200 block of South Cottage Grove in Chatham. He was listed in serious condition at Christ Hospital, Greer said.

Saturday morning, a 28-year-old man was fatally shot near U.S. Cellular Field and another man was wounded in separate shootings. Hours later, a 32-year-old man was fatally shot while driving in South Austin and three teens were wounded in a separate shooting.

A 15-year-old girl was shot in Bronzeville Friday afternoon.
