LAKEVIEW — A 17-year-old boy was hospitalized after he was shot in the city's Lakeview neighborhood early Tuesday morning.

About 12:55 a.m., the teen was walking on the sidewalk in the 1500 block of West Diversey Parkway when he "heard shots and felt pain," said Officer Michael Sullivan, a police spokesman.

The teen was shot in his upper left thigh and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where his condition stabilized.

Police later said that the teen was not cooperating with police, and neither the victim nor a friend who drove him to the hospital could give cops a description of the shooter.

No one was in custody in connection with the shooting, Sullivan said.
