CHICAGO — A 30-year-old man was fatally shot in South Austin Thursday evening.
Around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 300 block of North Central Avenue and found the man in a nearby alley with gunshot wounds in his head and back, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.
The man, identified as Andre Hughes, was pronounced dead at the Cook County Medical Examiner's office at 12:55 a.m. Friday. The medical examiner's office did not say where the man was from.
