CHICAGO — As Chicago White Sox pitchers and catchers report to sunny Arizona for the start of Spring Training this week, some lucky die-hard fans will surely follow.

But those left behind on this brutal winter can take heed: Sox fans are invited to gather at U.S. Cellular Field Thursday to tip a few summertime beers and listen to former ace Jack McDowell talk baseball.

Hosted by Leinenkugel's, the event takes place 5-7 p.m. Thursday at ChiSox Bar & Grill, formerly known as Bacardi at the Park, located at Gate 5.

McDowell, a three-time All-Star for the Sox and 1993 Cy Young award winner, will discuss the upcoming baseball season, while representatives from the Wisconsin-based brewer will pour fresh pitchers of Summer Shandy — reportedly the season's first Chicago release of the popular summer brew — and give away Sox tickets.

The event is free, but organizers say those looking to attend need to RSVP on the Leinenkugel’s Facebook page or by emailing leinielodge@leinenkugels.com to get an invite.
