CHICAGO — A possibly weather-related crash on the Northwest Side has left one woman dead and two others injured early Friday.

The crash occurred about 12:45 a.m. in the 5600 block of North Mannheim Road when a car heading northbound collided with a car heading south, police said.

Based on preliminary information, police think bad road conditions due to winter weather could've caused the crash.

A 65-year-old man driving one of the cars was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in "stable condition," police said.

His 61-year-old female passenger, who was also taken to Lutheran General, was pronounced dead at 1:46 a.m., according to the medical examiner's office. The woman's name was not being released early Friday.

A 28-year-old woman driving the second car was listed in "stable condition" at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center Friday morning, cops said.

Detectives from the major accidents unit are investigating.
