CHICAGO — A man has been charged with killing another man in 2009 when he was 16 years old.

Dennis Laird, 20, is charged with murdering 29-year-old Andre Jamison on Aug. 25, 2009, in the 2600 block of East 87th Street, according to police and the Tribune.

The shooting occurred about 11:40 p.m. when Laird shot Jamison in the back while he was on the sidewalk, police said. Jamison was later declared dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Last year, Laird was convicted of theft and felony gun charges and is serving a three-year sentence at Vandalia Correctional Center, according to Illinois Department of Corrections records.

Laird, of the 8200 block of South Dobson Avenue, was charged in Jamison's murder after recently being identified as the shooter, police said.
