LOGAN SQUARE — A man was charged with drunk driving and several other offenses after driving his truck the wrong way on the Kennedy Expressway before stopping in front of a snow plow Saturday night, officials said.

Gilberto Vanegas, 62, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, traveling in the wrong direction and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, according to Illinois State Police Trooper David Roman.

Vanegas was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of the Kennedy Expressway near Fullerton Avenue at about 2:50 a.m., police said. His white Chrysler minivan hit a retaining wall several times before coming to rest in front of an Illinois Department of Transportation snow plow.

Vanegas was released on bond, police said.
