CHICAGO — A pregnant woman was among three people shot in an SUV exiting the Dan Ryan Expressway early Saturday morning, state police said.
The woman was traveling in a 2008 blue Buick SUV, which broke down on the southbound exit ramp at 71st Street about 1:25 a.m., according to the Illinois State Police. While awaiting help, a black Dodge Charger with orange stripes pulled along aside it and someone inside it began shooting.
Shots fired from the Charger struck the Buick's 27-year-old male driver, a 19-year-old woman and a pregnant 24-year-old, both in the back seat.
A woman in the front passenger seat was uninjured.
The driver, a 27-year-old man, was shot four times in the upper part of his body. The 24-year-old woman was shot three times and the 19-year-old was shot six times.
All are expected to survive after being taken to Stroger Hospital and Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
