WEST TOWN — Six people were hospitalized after a multicar crash early Thursday morning.

About 1:25 a.m., a 29-year-old man was driving his sedan eastbound in the 1500 block of West Chicago Avenue at a "high rate of speed" when he rear-ended another car, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

That car then struck a parked car, and the 29-year-old's car went on to hit another car making a left turn.

Six people involved in the crash were taken to area hospitals to be treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The 29-year-old driver was taken to Stroger Hospital for treatment. He was in police custody after officials determined alcohol played a role in the accident. Charges are pending, police said.
