Police Find $178,000 Worth of Drugs at Home of Suspected Pot Brownie Maker

CHICAGO — A man who made pot-based foods was arrested Tuesday at his West Town home where police found drugs with a street value of $178,000, according to police.

Patrick McKay, 25, of the 2700 block of West Augusta Boulevard, was charged with three felony drug offenses.

Based on a narcotics division investigation, McKay was creating weed-based treats like suckers, chocolates, cookies and brownies at his home.

Police executed a search warrant Tuesday and found 5,900 grams of weed and weed-based foods, 150 grams of mushrooms and 1 gram of ecstasy.

The value of these drugs could bring in roughly $178,699, according to police.

Police also found $9,000 in cash and drug paraphernalia.

McKay was charged with possession of more than 5,000 grams of marijuana, possession of more than 15 grams of LSD or a similar drug, and possession of 15 to 100 grams of ecstasy or similar drugs.
