LINCOLN PARK — The brutal Chicago weather didn't stop the creators of NBC's upcoming series "Crisis" from filming an autumn scene Wednesday in Lincoln Park.

The piles of snow on and around the home in the 1800 block of North Orchard Street were cleared for the shoot, but the conditions limited the crew from capturing broader shots of the block and neighboring homes.

"You just have to take the [conditions] into account," said Mark Lyon, an assistant director of the show. "We kind of knew we were going to be here. Chicago's hot for shooting at the moment."

Most of the crew is from Chicago, which helps, Lyon said.

"It went really quite smoothly," he said. "As a city, Chicago really knows how to deal with snow."

As for Wednesday's single-digit temperatures, being able to see the actors' breath wasn't a concern as it could happen in the fall.

The political thriller, which is based in Washington D.C., chose to film some scenes in Chicago to showcase the city's architecture, Lyon said.

The scene Wednesday was shot on one of the ritziest blocks in the city, which includes the home of Penny Pritzker.

The show stars Chicago native Gillian Anderson and Dermot Mulroney and is set to air in March, Lyon said.
