MARQUETTE PARK — An 18-year-old woman died after she was stabbed at a party Monday night on the city's Southwest Side.

Stephanie Serrano, 18, was at a party in the 2900 block of West 63rd Street about 10:15 p.m. Monday night, officials said.

A 37-year-old man got into a dispute with some of the other partygoers and began chasing people around with a knife, said Officer Amina Greer, a Chicago Police Department spokeswoman.

Serrano, of the 8300 block of South Komensky Avenue, was stabbed multiple times. The teenager was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 11:12 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. The 37-year-old man fled the scene, cops said.

A short time later, someone with stab wounds who also matched the description of the knife-wielding man walked into the Chicago Lawn District police station.

Police took the man into custody and took him to Holy Cross Hospital to treat a gash on the man's head.

As of Tuesday morning, no charges were filed in connection with the stabbing. A knife was recovered from the scene, Greer said.
