LAKEVIEW — Those looking to stay inside and instead order meals Monday from their favorite spot might be out of luck.

More than 20 Lakeview and Lincoln Park restaurants are closed or have canceled delivery service due to the record-cold temperatures.

Cut Cats Courier, a co-op of food delivery bikes, opted to cancel all business Monday, said co-owner Dane Murphy. The business services around 20 area restaurants, including Milt's Barbecue, Bountiful Eatery, Cisp, Wrigley BBQ and La Boulangerie.

"It's way too dangerous," he said.

The service plans to "play it by ear tomorrow," but will definitely be back at work on Wednesday, Murphy said.

Other area businesses opted to close all together. Chicago Bagel Authority, 955 W. Belmont Ave.; 5411 Empandas, 2850 N. Clark St.; Fish Bar, 2956 N. Sheffield Ave. and Pie Hole Pizza Joint, 3477 N. Broadway, are all closed, to name a few.

But many of the neighborhood's local coffee shops are staying open despite freezing temperatures.

Coffee and tea lovers can cozy up Monday at places including: Bow Truss, 2934 N.  Broadway; Dollop Coffee, 824 W. Belmont Ave.; Intelligentsia, 3123 N. Broadway; Heritage Bicycles General Store, 2959 N. Lincoln Ave. or Saugatuck Coffee Company, 3344 N. Halsted St.

Intelligentsia will remain open until 9 p.m.

"If you are not going into work, or get cabin fever, feel free to swing by and justify our insanity," Heritage Bicycles said on its Facebook page Sunday.

And those who trek out to DMK Burger Bar, 2954 N. Sheffield Ave., will be rewarded for their troubles.

The restaurant will be offering free turkey chili to the "half ice/half people who make it in today." It is open between 11 a.m. and 12 a.m.
