Police Warn of Several Robberies in Chicago Lawn

CHICAGO — Police are warning Chicago Lawn residents of several separate strings of burglaries in December in the neighborhood.

In one string of burglaries, thieves physically attacked the victims before robbing them. Police are looking for two Hispanic men between the ages of 25 and 30, weighing around 160 lbs and standing about 5'7".

The first incident occurred December 29 around at 4 a.m. in the 5800 block of South Albany Avenue. The second incident happened December 30 around 3:30 a.m. in the 5900 block of South Sacramento Avenue.

In a separate string of robberies, thieves approached victims or entered a business and displayed a handgun before demanding property. Officers are looking for a group of two to four black men between the ages of 20 and 28,  between 5'8" and 6'1" and weighing  150 to 175 lbs.

The first two incidents occurred in the 7900 block of South Western Avenue on December 20. The first occurred at 4 a.m. and the second at 10:20 a.m. The third incident occurred nine days later in the 7900 block of South Talman Avenue at 5:40 p.m.

In two other robberies, two black men between the ages of 19 and 23, between 5'4" and 5'10" and weighing between 130 and 170 pounds displayed a handgun before demanding property.

The first robbery occurred in the 6000 block of South Kostner Avenue on December 23 around 12:15 a.m. The second occurred in the 6000 block of South Kolin Avenue on December 29 around 3:10 a.m.
