Father Kills Son, 25, During Argument, Police Say

CHICAGO — A 67-year-old man shot and killed his 25-year-old son during an argument early Tuesday, police said.

Around 12:30 a.m., August Galladay was shot by his father in the 3700 block of South Wells Street in Armour Square, authorities said. The man was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Hospital where he later died, said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.

Galladay, who lived on the block where he was shot, was pronounced dead at Northwestern Hospital at 1:19 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Galladay's father is in custody, but no charges have been filed, Greer said.

In other overnight violence, a 22-year-old woman was taken to Roseland Hospital after shooting herself in the shin in the 200 block of East 121st Place in West Pullman, around 2:20 a.m.
