LAKEVIEW — Women walking in Lakeview in the early morning are being targeted by two robbers, police said in a community alert.

A man and woman have been approaching women from behind and shoving "them forcefully to the ground" before taking their purses, the alert stated

At least three incidents have occurred so far, police said. On Dec. 19, a woman was targeted at 5:30 a.m. in the 800 block of West Oakdale Avenue. About 7 a.m. the same day, a woman was targeted in the 500 block of West Briar Place.

On Dec. 20, a woman was robbed in the 3500 block of North Southport Avenue just before 7:30 a.m.

The Town Hall police district's alert described the suspects as a black man, age 20-25, and a black woman, also age 20-25. The possible car involved has been described as a small, white Ford four-door with the partial plate of X12 or X21.

Police recommend paying attention to people loitering in the area or any cars matching the above description.
