CHICAGO — A 29-year-old man drove his car on the sidewalk and struck four cars while trying to flee police, a block from Michigan Avenue on a busy Sunday in the Gold Coast, police said.

Reggie Thompson-Seay Jr. was charged with a felony for fleeing police, six misdemeanors and issued traffic tickets after he allegedly drove off during a routine traffic stop at 4 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of East Chestnut Street in his 2006 Dodge Magnum.

Police said the Grand Boulevard man jumped the curb onto the sidewalk and drove into four cars while trying to escape.

Thompson-Seay allegedly tried to get away on foot after he struck the fourth car and could no longer drive the Magnum. He was caught by police in the 100 block of East Chestnut Street, according to police reports.

Thompson-Seay was charged with possession of marijuana and driving under the influence, as well as other charges.

Police also wrote Thompson-Seay six traffic tickets, including one for illegally parking his car when he allegedly attempted to escape police.

No one was injured, according to police reports.

Police were not immediately able to specify why they stopped Thompson-Seay.
