The Hypocrites

CHICAGO — It may be two days before Christmas, but that doesn't mean the neighborhood's taking a break.

"The Mikado," Steppenwolf (The Garage), 1824 N. Halsted St., 8 p.m.

Staged by The Hypocrites theater company, this reimagined version of Gilbert and Sullivan's classic comic opera has a handful of shows left before it leaves the Steppenwolf Garage Sunday. Tickets are $50.

The Oarsman, Tonic Room, 2447 N. Halsted, 8 p.m.

A self-dubbed "band from the Mid Western United States of America," The Oarsman headline a bill that includes three other acts: William Within, Josh Rosen (of Mos Scocious) and Simon Balto. Tickets are $8. For a taste of the acoustic pop stylings of the headliner, check out the video below taken during a live performance on the "L."

The Second City's Dysfunctional Holiday Show, 1616 N. Wells St., 8 and 11 p.m.

This seasonal show, which runs Mondays and Saturdays through Dec. 30, includes original songs and new sketches. Its suggested rating is "R." Tickets start at $16 and can be bought online or by phone at 312-337-3992.

ZooLights, Lincoln Park Zoo

Monday night's your last chance to see the zoo lit up before Christmas. But in case you miss it before the big holiday, the zoo will be lit up every night from Thursday though Jan. 5.
