CHICAGO — An 11-year-old boy was killed Saturday morning during a carjacking in Englewood.

Police were in pursuit of a stolen vehicle involved in an armed carjacking when they tried to curb it, said Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti, a police spokeswoman.

It sped away, and hit a Chevrolet Suburban at the intersection of 55th and Halsted streets about 12:30 p.m., police said. The boy was in the Suburban with an adult male. They were taken to University of Chicago Hospitals.

The boy was identified as Donavan Turnage, of the 5900 block of South Artesian Avenue, and pronounced dead at Comer Children's Hospital at 1:35 p.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.

After crashing into the Suburban, the suspect left his vehilce and carjacked another.

No one is in custody, and Area Central detectives are investigating.
