CHICAGO — 2013 was the year of reading local for Chicagoans.

The most checked-out book from the Chicago Public Library this year was the thriller "Gone Girl" by Ukrainian Village-based author Gillian Flynn.

Also making the list was No. 8-ranking "Divergent," a novel set in a dystopian version of Chicago and written by Edgewater-based author Veronica Roth.

The film version of "Divergent" has been filming around Chicago, with the movie set to premiere in March.

Also high on the list were the 2013 and 2012 selections for the library's "One Book, One Chicago" campaign: "The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Greatest Migration" by Isabel Wilkerson and "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak.

In non-local favorites, all three books from each of the wildly popular trilogies "The Hunger Games" and "Fifty Shades of Grey" also made the top 15.
