COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A Gresham man was jailed after prosecutors said he sent dirty messages and texted a photo of his penis to a 14-year-old girl.

Diangelo Haynes, 29, faces charges of manufacturing harmful material and harassment through electronic communications after sending more than 30 text messages to a 14-year-old girl, prosecutors said. The offense is considered a sex crime.

In mid-October, the girl and a friend went to Haynes' home in the 8600 block of South Loomis Avenue, where the friend had her hair done, prosecutors said in a court hearing Tuesday.

While there, Haynes' sister asked the teen if she would take the sister's picture to post on Facebook. The teen agreed to take the photos. The sister then asked the teen to text the photos to another number, prosecutors said.

The number the teen sent the photos to belonged to Haynes, prosecutors said.

About 10 days later, Haynes sent the girl more than 20 text messages, prosecutors said. The teen did not know Haynes, who claimed to be 17 years old in the messages, prosecutors said.

"In the text messages, [Haynes] related how beautiful he though the victim was, that he wanted to be her boyfriend and that he would purchase clothing and jewelry for her," Assistant State's Attorney Anthony Lucafo said.

The teen told Haynes how old she was and informed him that she already had a boyfriend, Lucafo said. But he contacted her again, Lucafo said.

On Nov. 11, the teen received about 10 text messages from Haynes, including one with a photo of his penis. Haynes also said he would "make her moan and make her toes curl," Lucafo said.

Haynes was ordered held on $40,000 bail Tuesday during a brief court hearing.

A security professional with Lockhart Security, Haynes has no criminal background, according to a defense attorney representing him.
