CHICAGO — Three men were killed and at least two wounded in South Side shootings Tuesday.

The most recent homicide happened about 6:30 p.m. in Calumet Heights when an armed man tried to rob a store in the 1700 block of East 87th Street, police said.

The store owner fatally shot the man, who was later identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as 25-year-old Demarcus Brandon.

Brandon, who lived in the 100 block of East 140th Court in south suburban Riverdale, was pronounced dead on the scene at 6:45 p.m. He'd been shot multiple times.

About two hours earlier, a 30-year-old man was fatally shot in his head near Ada Park in the Morgan Park neighborhood, said Officer Daniel O'Brien, a police spokesman.

The shooting occurred in the 7100 block of South Paxton Avenue, police said.

Cops found the man lying unresponsive in the 11200 block of South Ada Street around 4:40 p.m. No witnesses have come forward, police said.

The victim — Kevin Johnson, 30, of the 100 block of South Ashland Avenue — was pronounced dead at the morgue at 8:25 p.m.

In South Shore, two men were shot — one fatally — about 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman. The men were standing in the 7000 block of South Paxton Avenue when three gunmen walked up and opened fire.

Deonte Womack, 21, of the 6900 block of South Paxton Avenue, was struck in his head, neck and shoulder and pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital at 2:52 p.m., authorities said.

The other man, 22, was shot in his shoulder, buttocks and leg and was listed in serious condition at Northwestern Memorial.

In other violence:

Just before 10 p.m. Tuesday, police found a 30-year-old man with a gunshot wound in his calf inside a second-floor apartment in the 4700 block of South Indiana Avenue in Grand Boulevard.

The man claimed he was shot on the sidewalk and ran inside for shelter, but police believe the wound was self-inflicted. The man became uncooperative when cops challenged his story.
