Woman Killed by Red Line Train Committed Suicide, Authorities Say

CHICAGO — A Gage Park woman died in a suicide when she was hit by a Red Line "L" train in Englewood just before noon Wednesday, authorities said.

A train traveling north hit her at the 63rd Street Station about 11:55 a.m., according to CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski and the Chicago Fire Department.

The 43-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:19 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

An autopsy ruled her death a suicide, according to the morgue.

Service was suspended between the 47th and 95th/Dan Ryan Red Line stations early Wednesday afternoon.
