LAKEVIEW — It may be chilly out, but for those still itching to leave the apartment during the Thanksgiving holiday, the neighborhood has plenty of activities and specials so that having fun won't require a long trek.

Whether you're out to avoid the family for a couple of hours or celebrating with them, check out some of the events Lakeview has going on from Black Wednesday — or as Progress Bar describes it"your day to black out without judgment from your relatives."

For those looking to dance in neon: Progress Bar, 3359 N. Halsted St., will be hosting Chicago House music DJ Ralphi Rosario, an artist who was nominated for a 2012 Grammy with remix partner Abel Aguilera for their rendition of Rihanna's "Only Girl (In the World)." The TOGETHER party starts at 10 p.m.

For those looking to dance in black: DJ Scary Lady Sarah's monthly dark alternative dance night Nocturna — dark being goth, industrial, deathrock and more — falls on Black Wednesday this month. The black-black-black dance party will be at Metro, 3730 N. Clark St., and for a $10 ticket, the dance party lasts until 4 a.m.

For the Wrigleyville bar hoppers: Most of the hood's bars will have their own specials. For those looking to get a taste of a bunch of them, Chicago Twenty Something and My Drink On are offering a deal for a Black Wednesday pub crawl. The $20 tickets for "The Turkey Crawl" include three drink vouchers, a buffet at Rebel, 3462 N. Clark St. and turkey bowling at O'Malley's Kitchen, 3551 N. Sheffield Ave.

For those looking to sharpen their minds (while drinking): Nothing like trivia to ease in the night. D.S. Tequila, 3352 N. Halsted St., will be offering $8 pitchers of Bud Light and $3 Southern Comforts during their "Black Wednesday Ultimate Trivia Challenge." The event starts at 8 p.m. And who knows? Maybe you'll win some prizes worth of re-gifting during the holidays.

For the country lovers: Aside from $3 red Solo cups filled with Bud Light, Waterhouse Tavern, 3407 N. Paulina Ave., will be celebrating their country-themed Black Wednesday by serving shots in glasses shaped like cowboy boots — that you can keep. Solo cups with X's on the bottom will also win prizes.

For Lakeview-Lincoln Park trolley traveling: Bar1 Events will be hauling out a trolley for traveling to seven bars across Lakeview and Lincoln Park, from McGee's to Redmond's. The annual Turkey Trolley Trot costs $25 in presale, $30 at the door of any of the participating bars. It includes a food buffet, domestic drafts, pilgrim punch and the transit.
