LAKEVIEW — Residents looking to shop local this holiday season, take note: Each of the neighborhood's four chambers is once again offering incentives and deals for those who shop locally.
Southport Corridor and West Lakeview
For participating businesses from Belmont to Lincoln to Ashland to Southport, Lakeview Chamber of Commerce's SHOP Lakeview will pay shoppers $50 for every $300 worth of receipts from shops, restaurants and other businesses in the district.
Purchases must be made before Dec. 31, and the $300 must be spent in at least five shops. Receipts can be mailed to the Lakeview Chamber, 1409 W. Addison St., and families can earn up to $500 from receipts.
Businesses include everything from nail salons and wine shops to restaurants and bars. The full list and map can be seen here.
And on Thursday night, Southport businesses will be hosting a "VIP night" with discounts and treats. Purchases will be eligible for SHOP Lakeview.
East Lakeview
Shoppers visiting Broadway and Clark south of Belmont can get a $50 gift card for every $300 spent at neighborhood shops by bringing receipts to the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce, 3138 N. Broadway, as part of its Giver's Gift Program.
Receipts must be for purchases between Nov. 1 and Dec. 21, and must be from at least three different merchants, with a minimum $25 purchase at each one.
The $50 gift card can be used for participating stores in east Lakeview, a list that can be seen here.
Stores range from area pharmacies and dry cleaners to restaurants, grocery stores and liquor stores.
Boystown Bars, Restaurants, Shops and Services
Frequenters of businesses along the Boystown mainstay strip and Broadway from Grace to Irving Park — whether it's restaurants, bars or even Whole Foods — may be interested in the Northalsted Business Alliance's Holiday Bucks Gift Card.
Buyers will get a free $20 for every $100 purchased for the gift card, with a maximum of $400 on each card. The cards can be bought online and picked up at one of five local retailers.
The gift cards can still be used after the holidays end.
Central Lakeview
People visiting central Lakeview — an area encompassing Wrigleyville and the Belmont shopping district — by car should save their parking meter receipts. Central Lakeview Merchants Association will be giving out free cheesecake to anybody who brings in 20 parking receipts with dates between Dec. 2 and Dec. 20 to their office, 3355 N. Clark St.
Pastry chef Maritrese Chaudior of Hot Diggity Dogs, 947 W. Wellington Ave., will be making the treats.
