CHICAGO — A 62-year-old man is in critical condition after falling three stories after a robbery in Auburn Gresham Tuesday night.

About 10:45 p.m., an armed man stole a bag from a 28-year-old man in the 7700 block of South Halsted Street, said Officer Michael Sullivan, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

The robber ran up the back staircase of a building on that street, and shortly afterward the 62-year-old man fell to the ground from a third-floor landing, police said.

It was still unclear whether the man fell or was pushed by the robber, police said.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was unable to talk to police.

No one was in custody early Wednesday.
