LINCOLN PARK — A 40-year-old man was hospitalized after he was shot early Tuesday in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.

The man was one of three people shot on the North and South sides overnight Monday and Tuesday, including a 25-year-old man who was killed in a McDonald's parking lot in Lincoln Square.

Police had few details available about the Lincoln Park shooting but said it happened about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

A 40-year-old man told police he was shot in the 2100 block of North Clybourn Avenue. The man drove himself to Stroger Hospital after he was shot in his lower back and both of is legs, said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.

Hours earlier, a 25-year-old man was shot to death in a McDonald's parking lot in Lincoln Square.

Just after 7 p.m., the 25-year-old man was sitting in a car in the parking lot when a gunman or multiple gunman approached him and opened fire into the car before fleeing in another car, Greer said.

The man was shot in his head and was pronounced dead on the scene about 7:15 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. Officials there had not released the man's name as of Tuesday morning.

Police believe the shooting may have been related to a drug deal, sources said. The 25-year-old was a documented gang member, sources said.

About 6:30 p.m., a 28-year-old man was shot in Englewood.

The man was standing outside in the 7200 block of South Halsted Street when a group of people walking toward him began firing a handgun in his direction.

The man was shot in his left hand and transported himself to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition.

No one was in custody in connection to any of the shootings as of Tuesday morning.

Also late Monday, a 21-year-old man died after he was shot on Sunday in the Back of the Yards.
