CHICAGO — A Loyola University student was robbed at gunpoint Friday afternoon near its Rogers Park campus, police said.

A female student was walking with another student in the 1300 block of West North Shore Avenue around 3:30 p.m. when the two were approached by a man holding a handgun, police said.

The man demanded her purse and phone, later fleeing the scene with those items, police said.

He got in a metallic blue, four-door hatchback with an Illinois license plate that was parked nearby, according to a university alert.

Neither of the students were injured.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or Loyola's campus safety department at 773-508-6039.
