EDGEWATER — Tickets for Yo-Yo Ma's free performance at Senn High School next month ran out after just three days.

The world-famous cellist plans to perform Richard Strauss' "Don Quixote" with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago during an "open rehearsal" 7 p.m. Dec. 12 at Senn, 5009 N. Glenwood Ave.

Yo-Yo Ma and the orchestra did a similar performance December 2012 to a sold-out audience.

Senn principal Susan Lofton said the free tickets for this year's performance went on sale Wednesday.

The newly renovated Senn Hall seats nearly 1,000 and 100 temporary seats will be added to squeeze in more people, she said.

"He will be working with 80 students from the Senn Arts and IB music classes," Lofton said. "For the students there will be a smaller, private performance and panel discussion."

Yo-Yo Ma also visited Senn and Edgewater's Swift Elementary School in March.
