CHICAGO — Three boys were arrested after they robbed two Florida women using a fake handgun in Armour Square Thursday, police said.

Just before 7 p.m., two boys — ages 14 and 16 — stole items from two women in the 2600 block of South Wentworth Avenue, according to police.

During the robbery, the 14-year-old boy pulled what appeared to be a handgun, while the 16-year-old punched one of the women, causing redness and swelling, police said.

Police sources said the women, ages 23 and 25, were in town visiting from Florida.

Both boys were arrested by officers responding to a robbery call in the area, and later positively identified by their victims.

Police recovered a “replica firearm” on one of the boys, and later arrested an 11-year-old boy who apparently worked as a lookout during the attack.

Each of the three boys was charged with two counts of felony aggravated robbery. Because the suspects were charged as juveniles, police are not releasing their names or photographs.
