ANDERSONVILLE — More than 400 people are expected to journey through Andersonville on Sunday for the Andersonville Dessert Crawl.

The Andersonville Chamber of Commerce touts the event, which runs from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, as "trick-or-treating with a gourmet flair."

Twenty-four area restaurants split into two routes are scheduled to show off their most delectable desserts during the crawl. Sweets seekers can chow on samples at a dozen businesses by buying tickets to one of two routes — the Candy Corn Route, and the Caramel Apple Route, for $20 in advance and $25 the day of the event.

The Andersonville Chamber of Commerce said there were 250 tickets to each route, and chamber assistant director Jason Cox said that he expected "425 or so," people to participate in the crawl. The main purpose of the event is to "give people a chance to go somewhere they maybe haven't gone before," in Andersonville, Cox said.

"We have new places coming all the time, and obviously in these eight years we've had a lot of new places come into the hood," Cox said.

The Candy Corn Route includes the chocolate divinity cake at Big Jones, 5347 N. Clark St., and the pumpkin mousse with ginger cookie garnish by My Private Chef, a private chef service operating out of In Fine spirits at 5418 N. Clark St.

The Caramel Apple Route boasts the banana pot de crème with butterscotch shortbread at Vincent, 1475 W. Balmoral Ave., and apple cranberry stuffed French bread pudding and ice cream at Pauline's, 1754 W. Balmoral Ave.

Sounds like a tough call, but a sweet decision either way.
