Halloween in Lincoln Park: Spooky Zoo Spectacular, Haunted Houses and More

LINCOLN PARK — The calendar for the upcoming week and a half in Lincoln Park is packed with Halloween-themed events for kids and adults alike — ranging from "adult" pumpkin carving contests to trick-or-treating events inside the grounds of the Lincoln Park Zoo.

McGee's 15th Annual Pumpkin Carving950 W. Webster Ave.; Oct. 23, 3 p.m.

McGee's is providing the pumpkins and the carving tools for its 15th annual pumpkin carving event, with family-friendly carving from 3-6 p.m. and "adult" carving starting at 6 p.m. There will be $4 pumpkin beers all day long and the carvers of the top three pumpkins will win cash prizes. Free.

13 Terrors Haunted House, Fullerton at the lakefront; Oct. 24-26, 7-10 p.m. 

13 Terrors Haunted House takes place in what used to be a sanitarium on the lakeshore at Theater on the Lake. Free parking is available at Diversey Harbor lot. Ages 8 and up. $10

Pumpkins in the Park 5K,  Lincoln Park South Field House at Stockton Drive and LaSalle Drive; Oct. 26, 2 p.m. for the kids race 4 p.m. for the 5K.

The winding 5K course will include two "fear zones" as it winds through Lincoln Park and the post-race events will include a pumpkin pie eating contest. $30

Spooky Zoo Spectacular, Lincoln Park Zoo; Oct. 26, 11 a.m.- 2 p.m..

Guests should put on their spookiest costumes before heading into the zoo where there will be crafts, treats and entertainment in some of the zoo's top exhibits. Family entertainment starts at 11 a.m. A haunted house and trick-or-treating is from noon-2 p.m.

Clark Street's Halloween Spooktacular, 2324 N. Clark St.; Oct. 26, 1-5 p.m.

Kids can trick-or-treat at businesses along Clark Street, check out a scarecrow contest and play games and make crafts at the official check-in (2324 N. Clark St.) A map of participating businesses will be available at the check-in. Free

Kids Halloween Party in Adams Park, 1919 N. Seminary Ave.; Oct. 27, 3-4:30 p.m.

The Chicago Park District is hosting a Halloween party for kids under 7 years old that will feature arts and crafts, refreshments, live music and a magic show. Super Stolie will perform from 3:15-3:45 p.m. and the magic show will be from 3:45-4:15 p.m. Free

"The Rocky Horror Picture Show"/"The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert", 2424 N. Lincoln Ave.; Oct. 31, 7 p.m.

Lincoln Hall is hosting a double showing of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" starting at 7 p.m. The event will include a costume contest, spooky food and drink specials. $5
