CHICAGO — An Oak Park man is charged with murder, two months after he was arrested in the June shooting of an Austin man who died this week.

Craig Bryan, 23, of the 400 block of West Washington Boulevard in Oak Park, was arrested in August and charged with aggravated battery and other charges after being identified as the person who shot 24-year-old Keith Sutton.

Those charges were upgraded to first-degree murder Saturday after Sutton died Thursday.

Sutton was shot June 2 in the 5700 block of West Bloomingdale Avenue in North Austin, authorities said.

Sutton was in Galewood Park about 10:15 a.m. when a gunman walked up to him and fired two shots, hitting Sutton once in the head and once in the body. The gunman then got into an SUV and fled. Sutton was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

Initially held on $450,000 bond, Bryan is scheduled to appear in court Saturday.
