COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A Logan Square man is accused of "wielding an ax" during an attempted robbery Saturday, and was held on $250,000 bail Sunday afternoon.

Police said Jimmie Ortiz, 30, of the 1800 block of North Kedzie Avenue, approached a man in his vehicle near the corner of St. Louis Avenue and Bloomingdale Trail Avenue.

After pulling the man's door open and yelling, "Give me your stuff," Ortiz grabbed the driver's cellphone.

The man and a witness were then able overpower Ortiz until police arrived shortly after 12:00 p.m., according to court documents.
