CHICAGO — Two people were injured in a drive-by shooting in Back of the Yards Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The victims, a 25-year-old man and 21-year-old woman, were standing with a group of people on a sidewalk in the 5000 block of South Peoria Street, said Officer Jose Estrada, police spokesman.

A gray-colored SUV drove by about 4:35 p.m., and someone inside opened fire on the group before driving away, Estrada said.

The man was shot in his lower left leg, and the woman was shot in her lower right arm. They were both taken in good condition to St. Bernard Hospital, police said.

No one was in custody as of 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
