WRIGLEYVILLE — Uncommon Ground is entering the beer business.

The restaurant with locations in Wrigleyville, 3800 N. Clark St., and Edgewater, 1401 W. Devon Ave., plans to open its own brewery in a space next to the Wrigleyville restaurant, Uncommon Ground employee Tom Cathcart confirmed.

Greenstar Brewing, as the beer will be called, will span approximately three storefronts on Clark Street, as Crain's first reported.

The focus is organic hops, with beers being developed by Jim Cozzens. The team and owners Michael and Helen Cameron are already working on developing lines from the brewery space to Uncommon Ground's restaurant bar, Cathcart said.

Of the 12 drafts, they expect at least half to start pouring Greenstar Brewing beer, he said.

Uncommon Ground, whose Edgewater location features a rooftop garden, has been recognized as being the greenest restaurant in America by the Green Restaurant Association in recent years.
