Police Warn of Nighttime Robberies in River North

CHICAGO — Police have issued an alert to River North residents warning them of three recent robberies in which victims were physically attacked.

In each of the incidents, the robbers approached their victims as they walked on the sidewalk before punching, pushing or throwing the victim to the ground.

The robbers then demanded property from the victims before possibly driving off in a dark-colored, four-door car.

The incidents occurred:

• In the 400 block of North Wabash Avenue at 1:30 a.m. Aug. 22.

• In the 0-100 block of East Illinois Street at 1:45 a.m. Sept. 13.

• In the 0-100 block of East Ohio Street at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday.

One of the robbers was described as a black man with medium complexion, 25 to 35 years old, 5-foot-8 to 6-foot tall, 150 to 160 pounds.

The other was described as a black woman with medium complexion, 25 to 35 years old, 5-foot-6 to 6-foot-1 tall, 180 to 190 pounds.
