CHICAGO — A man died in what police said was an apparent construction accident in East Garfield Park Saturday morning.

Raul Lagunas, 47, was killed after being crushed between two vehicles or pieces of construction equipment in the 200 block of North Washtenaw Avenue about 10:30 a.m. Saturday, police said.

Police said Lagunas' death appeared to be an accident.

Lagunas, of the 2500 block of North Mango Avenue, was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 12:54 a.m. Sunday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy has not been completed, and further information about the incident was not immediately available.

Just days earlier, Martin Marino, a 48-year-old construction worker, died after being trapped under a construction vehicle in Englewood. An autopsy later ruled his death an accident, according to the morgue.
