CHICAGO — A man found dead in West Lawn Tuesday, who was originally thought to have head trauma, was discovered to have been stabbed to death, officials said Wednesday.
Ismael Rangel, 38, was found unresponsive about 10:50 a.m. Tuesday in the 6000 block of South Kolmar Avenue, authorities said.
He was pronounced dead on the scene at 12:20 p.m. His home address was still unknown Wednesday evening, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
A Wednesday autopsy revealed Rangel had died after being repeatedly stabbed in the "upper body," authorities said.
The case is proceeding as a homicide investigation, police said.
