CHICAGO — Police have released photos of a van believed to be involved in an attempted luring of a 13-year-old girl in East Garfield Park in August.

According to a community alert sent out after the incident, the girl was leaving a store in the 2900 block of West Madison Street on Aug. 12 about 12:40 p.m. when a man in a white conversion van yelled to her "Do you want some money?"

The girl ignored the driver and continued to walk home, and the van followed her. The man asked her again if she wanted some money, according to the alert.

The girl ran inside her home and told a family member what happened, according the the alert. A witness told authorities a van was seen northbound on California Avenue from Warren Boulevard.

The suspect in the van was described in the alert as a white man in his 60s with short, curly, salt-and-pepper hair. He had a lighter-colored mustache and was wearing sunglasses, according to the alert.

He was driving a white conversion van with a ladder rack attached to the roof, according to the alert.

Police asked anyone with information to call detectives at 312-747-8380.
