Pedestrian, Driver Hospitalized After Monday Morning Accident on West Side

CHICAGO — A woman was seriously hurt after being hit by a car on the West Side Monday morning, and the car's driver also was hospitalized, authorities said.

The woman was hit sometime before 8:20 a.m. and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious-to-critical condition, according to the Chicago Fire Department. 

The driver, a 52-year-old woman, was taken in fair-to-serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, according to the Fire Department.

The Fire Department and Chicago Police are at odds on the location of the accident. The  Fire Department said it occurred in the 3000 block of West Harrison; police place the accident farther east, in the 600 block of West Harrison Street.

Police said the driver appeared to have had a medical emergency before she hit the pedestrian.

Further information about the crash was not immediately available.
