CHICAGO — A Berwyn man was killed and three people injured after a pick-up truck smashed into two cars and fled the scene in Humboldt Park early Sunday, police said.
The crash occurred about 5:20 a.m., when a silver four-door truck — possibly a Toyota Tacoma — hit two other cars in the 1600 block of North Kostner Avenue, said Officer John Mirabelli, a police spokesman.
Eduardo Perez, of the 1500 block of South Clarence Avenune in Berwyn, killed when the Toyota Camry he was driving "sustained significant rear-end damage," Mirabelli said. A 17-year-old passenger was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition had stabilized.
Two 31-year-old women riding in a 2005 Hyundai Elantra were also injured. The women refused medical treatment on the scene.
Police in the Major Accidents unit were still investigating early Sunday. It was not immediately clear what caused the crash, which happened at the intersection of Grand, North and Kostner avenues.
