Officials: Woman Found in West Side Home Monday Was Murdered

CHICAGO — A woman found dead in West Garfield Park Monday was murdered, according to an autopsy.

The woman was found inside a residence in the 4400 block of West Wilcox Street at 5:06 p.m., according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The woman, whose age and identity were unknown, was pronounced dead on the scene at 6:11 p.m.

A Tuesday autopsy showed the woman's cause of death to be several injuries from physical assault. Her death was ruled a homicide by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Police are pursuing the case as a death investigation, officials said.
